What is Revy Kevy’s #55HoursForHope?
In 2015 Zach Zehnder, a pastor in Florida, preached a 53 hour and 18 minute sermon – the longest ever preached. Kevin George, priest at St Aidan’s Anglican Church, wants to beat that record. So he will. For 55 hours in September Kevin will get in the pulpit and spread the word. Like Pastor Zehnder, Kevin will get five minutes off every hour. That means he will preach 55 sermons, 55 minutes long. So 55 sermons focused on love, justice, mercy, kindness, forgiveness healing and HOPE! No sleep! No Rest!
When will Revy Kevy’s #55HoursForHope take place?
Kevin will begin his adventure on September 11, 2019 at 1030 am. That means he should finish at 530 pm on September 13, 2019. Why then? Kevin wanted to finish his marathon of preaching on the Feast Day of St John Chrysostom. Chrysostom was Archbishop of Constantinople and lived in the fourth and fifth centuries. He was known as the Golden-Mouthed preacher. Kevin will employ the great works of John Chrysostom in crafting his 55 sermons.
